Generating useful quantities of biologically active recombinant proteins in a cost effective and timely manner is a fundamental requirement in Biopharmaceutical R&D. These proteins are used to understand disease processes in both traditional and functional genomics research. They are used to develop targets and assays for small molecule drug screening and are used as antigens for creating therapeutic antibodies. Perhaps most importantly, recombinant proteins can be valuable in themselves as biological therapeutics.
Since the properties of each protein molecule are unique, development of the methods required to produce and manipulate recombinant proteins is often a time consuming and expensive empirical process. In particular, understanding the behavior of a protein of interest, its stability, and what is required to deliver the protein to in vitro and in vivo systems, is a major challenge. ABT can accelerate the Biopharmaceutical R&D process by providing scientists with purified proteins that are formulated to retain their activities prior to testing. Perhaps equally as important, ABT can provide scientists with an understanding of how their protein of interest behaves so that formulations can be developed to ensure that the protein remains stable under multiple conditions.
ABT's capabilities span the range of technologies required to manipulate recombinant protein molecules. We can assist our clients by providing our expertise in the following areas.
